Our Location
Nestled in the sheltered hamlet of Nedd on the side of a sea loch bearing the same name. (Nedd in Gaelic is ‘An Nead’ and means ‘the nest’). Nedd sits along the B869, a stunning coastal road linking Kylesku to Lochinver, part of the North Coast 500 route. Remote but not isolated the village of Drumbeg lies just over a mile to the west in which you will find the well stocked Drumbeg stores, Assynt Aromas candle shop & secret tea garden and the Drumbeg hotel (in which the local bar is located) and with the stunning beaches of Achmelvich, Clashnessie & Clachtoll only a short drive away.
Our croft has stunning sea views out over Loch Nedd looking out to Lower Badcall, Scourie, Handa island and to the distant mountain peaks of Fionaven, Arkle. and Ben Stack. We also have commanding views over the dramatic Western side of Quinag, a mountain that dominates the horizon in this part of Assynt.
On a clear night the stars are amazing and some lucky people have seen the Northern lights from this part of Sutherland.
Wild life too is in abundance. Seals playing in the kelp by the croft or basking on one of the islands within the loch. Wild deer are daily visitors, often grazing at dusk or sunrise and badgers roam through the croft at night.
An array of birds visit and live in the area, cuckoos, owls, woodpeckers, starlings, swallows, tits are just a few. Sea birds, Golden eagles and the occasional Sea eagle can also be seen in the area. Those with a keen eye might spot a pine martin or two.
